Weather in Kreeta in October
Crete in October offers its visitors the most unpredictable weather – sometimes the days may be sunny and warm, followed by a rainy evening and a comfortable day after that, when you can still swim in the sea and sunbathe. Every year the weather can unexpectedly change, so it is recommended to check the forecast prior to travelling.
The average temperature is 20°C and though the sea is still warm, it is uncomfortable to get out of the water. One of the advantages of travelling to Crete in October is the cheaper hotel prices, as this is considered to be the ‘low’ season. One of the fun things to do in October is to participate in the celebration of the Fish Festival in Elounda and in the Ohi Day on the 28th October, which is the day in memory of the WWII, when the Greeks did not allow Mussolini and his army through Crete. There are numerous military parades and concerts that take place in big towns all over the island.
