This temple is often considered the best one in Bangkok mainly because it is not as crowded as the other temples. It is located atop an artificial hill but it can be comfortably reached by an easy climb. Visitors will love the views over Bangkok and will be given the possibility to ring bells.

Wat Arun is one of the most famous landmarks in Thailand; therefore it is highly recommended coming here during early morning, both to avoid crowds of tourists and to enjoy the beautiful effect the morning sunrays have over the surface of the temple. Climbing the 70m spire could be considered too steep for some elders.

Lumpini Park claims itself the oldest and largest park in Bangkok. This clean green area is very calm although it is situated in the heart of the business district of the city! Hit the park if you want to have a picnic, do some jogging or simply relax in one of the many benches. Showers are also available.

Snake Farm is suitable for people of every age. It holds two different of shows, one during the morning when people attend the extraction of venom from snakes in order to create antidotes, and one during the afternoon when lots of snakes are displayed to the public while information is being provided by an expert.

When it comes to size, Wat Pho is quite unmatched: this temple features a stunning image of Buddha which length exceeds 160 ft! The temple is also famous for being the birthplace of Thai massage and being one of the oldest in Bangkok.

In Bangkok there are several floating markets, so make sure to visit at least one of them. Sellers normally live along the canals, cultivating fruits and vegetables which are being sold during the morning to purchasers who come to make deals with their rowing boats.

The Grand Palace of Bangkok used to be the residence of the King of Siam and it was eventually turned into a museum. Thanks to its sheer size, its unique architectural size and the beauty of its interiors, this palace ranks among the top destinations in Bangkok.

After WWII, Jim Thompson, an American businessman, moved to Thailand and contributed in saving the country’s silk industry from extinction. Its house is now a museum with stunning pieces of art. Cheap and informative guided tours make this house a must-see.

It might not be perceived as the first reason to visit Bangkok, but the Museum of Contemporary Art is well worth a visit. The architecture of the building is fascinating, as well as the thought-provoking collections displayed.

Spending an afternoon (or even better, an evening) cruising the Chao Phraya River will let you experience another side of Bangkok made up by great food, entertainment and typical music.
