Isla Contoy is a small island reachable by boat, though you must book your visit via an official agency as just 200 people per day are allowed to get to the island, in order to preserve it. There are high chances to spot both fish (including barracuda, starfish and stingray) and birds (100 species of birds in fact reside in the island).

Located close to Playa del Carmen, Xcaret offers interesting activities such as snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, hiking and exploring an underground river. The park is reachable after one hour drive from Cancun. It is believed that Maya people used to bathe in this area to purify themselves thanks to its healthy waters.
