India is a country famous for experiencing varied climate conditions throughout the year based on varied topography and geographic conditions. In general the North is cool, central India hot and dry and the south India holds tropical climate.

If we talk in the terms of weather in India, there are three basic seasons: Summer, Monsoon and Winter. The best time to visit India is during winters as most parts can be found cool and pleasant.

Winter in India: November to February

It’s the most appropriate season for travel across the country although some part of Northern India i.e. Kashmir and some parts of Himachal Pradesh are quite chilly and under the snow. Rest of India is quite cooler and comfortable to travel. The average temperature is 200 C however night can be cooler. You can pack your thermals, sweatshirts, scarfs and gloves while coming to India during winters.

Places to visit in India

During winters the weather in India is most suitable to visit the beaches; you will find Goa quite exciting and full of partying flocks. Again, the winters are best to visit south India as in other seasons it is little hot, humid or raining. Rajasthan the desert part of India is also a good destination for winters. People interested in skiing and snow trekking can visit the northern mountain areas for it.

Monsoon: June to October in India

Monsoon season comes with a new life to forestation, waterfall, vegetation, wildlife etc. To add to this freshness there are several discounts and off season schemes available in lodging and shopping. Usually coastal region, metro cities Mumbai and Kolkata, and in north India eastern Himalayas especially Darjeeling and shilling receive heavy rains.

The Average temperature of this season is 300 C and a traveller should keep an umbrella or raincoat, light and easy to dry clothes, waterproof backpacks, rubber flip-flops, mosquito repellents and first aid supplies for travel.

Places to visit in India

The best destination to visit during monsoon is Leh & Ladhak with no monsoon rain. Other regions receiving less rain like Rajasthan, eastern side of western Ghats mountain range, Goa, Valley of flowers, National Park and other green areas are also the top catch of this season.

Summer in India (March to May)

The heat in Northern India is very high and temperature reaches 45-500C although the Southern India part is comparatively cool with the max. temperature reaching 350C. For touring at this season the travellers should pack with them light and cotton clothing, summer hats, sunscreen, mosquito repellents, medicine for stomach upset but if you are planning to go to some hill station keep some light warmers, sweatshirts, stoles etc. Travel in AC, drink lots of juice, and clean water to avoid dehydration.

Places to Visit in India

Although it’s not a good season for travelling but the Hill stations are the perfect places to visit at this time. Seeing wildlife and tigers is also a good idea, as the animal could be spotted more frequently who come out of the dense areas in search of water.
